Just released: NTIA’s Accountability Report re: Artificial Intelligence

NTIA’s Accountability Report re: AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems are rapidly becoming part of the fabric of everyday American life.
From customer service to image generation to manufacturing, AI systems are everywhere.

Alongside their potential for good, AI systems also pose risks of harm. The risks include inaccurate
or false outputs; unlawful discriminatory algorithmic decision making; destruction of jobs and the
dignity of work; and compromised privacy, safety, and security.

The report makes the case that these systems be subject to security and operational mechanisms
to mitigate risk and warrant stakeholder trust so that they will not cause harm.

  1. View the Broadband Breakfast discussion on generative AI capabilities quickly being woven into the fabric of daily life and business practices, the debate around regulating this disruptive technology has been catapulted into the public eye.

What is happening with President Biden’s October 30, 2023, Executive Order on AI?

How might regulation of AI factor into the national storyline in an election year?

What legislative measures are in the pipeline for Congress?
